So today I thought I’d present you with a little mix of my two favourite things; art and social media! As someone who spends a considerable amount of time scrolling through the various social media platforms – it’s work I swear – I have come to the conclusion that sites and apps like twitter, facebook and instagram are not only a great way to see into peoples’ lives but also manage to connect us all in one giant, inclusive community. Since they say a picture is worth a thousand words, my personal favourite sharing platform is undeniably instagram. You can find so many wonderful artists, celebrities and average-joes out there sharing both their work and their personal life. However, this is our artsy Monday post so I will only be sharing a few of my favourite artist run instagram accounts that I think you might want to follow.
Firstly, @redhongyi is an amazing artist who works through thematic media, her latest being creation through the medium of food. Her use of colour is always a feast for the eyes. Did I really just make that joke? Yes.
Secondly, I am always inspired by the well-known artist and instagrammer @jr, who creates vast, awe inspiring portraits of people to decorate buildings and cityscapes. Next, @cryingjune, is a photographer and artist whose amazing use of space and impersonal settings are incredibly evocative and moving. I am fairly sure I have liked every single one of her posts!
Another amazing artist is user @kelseybrookes, who paints immensely fascinating works of interlocking lines and shapes inspired by Hindu and Buddhist artwork. And last but not least is a user I have been following for what seems like forever, @pauloctavious, who has a great sense of colour, wonder and shape in the everyday and really lets his followers into his life.
If you like what you see here and you would like to keep up with Papergirl, you can follow us @papergirlvan and check out all of the cool people we follow in turn. Have a wonderful week and stay inspired.
