WHAT IS PAPERGIRL?Papergirl: A redefinition of street art combining Art, Philanthropy, and Bicycles.
The idea behind the Papergirls project is to bring art and the public together in an exciting and innovative way by taking art out of the galleries and into the streets. This amazing global art movement was started in 2006 by Aisha Ronniger in Berlin, Germany and has spread all over there world! You can find other Papergirl chapters at: http://papergirl-world.blogspot.ca/ Papergirl is an inclusive, non-commercial art project that welcomes artists of all ages and abilities to participate by donating their work. Artwork received will become part of a non-juried week-long exhibition. On the final day of the exhibition, the artwork will be taken down and bundled into rolls. It is distributed by a team of volunteer cyclists, in the style of the American Paperboy, to completely unsuspecting strangers! The generosity of our donor artists and the hard work and dedication of our volunteers makes the Art of Giving Art possible. The best part about it is that anyone can be a Papergirl; male, female, amateur, hobbyist, doodler and professional artists are all welcome! We hope to see your work this year! |
