Of course it was not only through the Papergirl team that we achieved such a smooth and positive feeling amongst those working to set up this year’s show. I would like to extend a huge thank you to several Roundhouse volunteers who worked hard without complaint and helped bring our vision into reality. I think any Papergirl would agree that having such great people upon whom to rely cut down on anxiety immensely. Though putting up the artwork could be described as somewhat of a repetitive task, not a sour face could be seen anywhere and no groans were overheard. Another big thank you must be said to our scissor lift operator, who helped make the large, sparse space into our fun little exhibition safely, quickly and certainly far better than any of us could have managed. Which of course leads me to send a special thank you to Olga O’Shea for her amazing yarn bombed bicycle parts and stools which were just the thing we needed to brighten up our space and make it our own!
Finally, I say thank you again to all of the contributing artists. Whether you submitted a work from your own time, something from a Papergirl workshop, a poem, or a bug from our collaboration with Draw By Night, I was absolutely blown away by the number or talented people in this world. That you spent precious time and material to donate to our movement shows your admirable passion for art making outside of a commercial setting. Whilst putting up the exhibition I often found myself saying, or agreed with someone else saying, that no matter how many times we circled through the space we could always find something new to love. Certainly, without you we would not have an exhibition to set up and your philanthropic donation is appreciated more than you know.
If you are interested in viewing the exhibition, we would certainly love to see you there. The Exhibition Opening is tomorrow from 6-8:30pm and is a chance to meet the artists and the Papergirl team, while also being entertained by our musical guest Land of Deborah, our speakers Phyllis Schwartz and Tara Drage and gorging on delicious Coquettish Cupcakes. If you are unable to make it tomorrow, the exhibition runs through until August 17th, so come on down when you can. We would love to hear your thoughts and experiences from the exhibition and as always invite you to let us know through any of our numerous social media platforms.
"Thanks" for reading and hope to see you there,
