Inspired by art crawls, we thought it'd be fun to take a virtual look inside the homes of some of our team members to see what art they have surrounding them. We're hoping to spark some thoughts about how art is different to every person, as well as reflect upon what we have chosen to hang on our walls or display on a shelf -- and why. Art has the amazing capacity to be whatever a person decides it is, whether it is a painting by a famous artist or a drawing by your child or a found photograph. We hope you enjoy these glimpses into the art that we treasure and take comfort in!
This week’s art tour is brought to you by Ashley, one of our Social Media Wizards and Monday blogger.
Howdy everyone! Welcome in to my humble abode. I moved to Vancouver in 2011 to start my post-secondary education and lived with terribly bare dorm walls for over a year before finally moving to my own place this March. Being an Art History major I felt bereft without at least a little representation of my passion, so almost every wall is now home to a little piece of me. As I am on a budget and because I enjoy a good treasure hunt, most of my pieces come from the thrift shop. You might be amazed by the things you find there! I tend to like a wide variety of things, from the folksy to the exotic to the romantic, but overall I am quite a fan of flowers, nature and colour. My own arts and crafts also litter the walls and shelves because if you can DIY you may as well right? Enjoy!
