GRAPHIC DESIGNER
Papergirl Vancouver is an inclusive, non-commercial art project that brings people together in celebration of art and community in an unconventional way: through the spirit of altruism.
In this annual project, artists of all ages and abilities are invited to donate their work to a non-juried exhibition. Afterward, the artwork is rolled into bundles and is distributed by a team of cyclists (in the style of the American paperboy) to anyone they meet along specific bike routes around Vancouver.
We are looking for team members for 2014! In joining our dynamic member of dedicated volunteers you will help bring Papergirl: Art of Giving Art to the people of Vancouver.

Graphic Designer Role Description: We need a fresh look for Papergirl Vancouver 2014 and we are looking for a creative, reliable and highly motivated graphic designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess an understanding of the current Papergirl Vancouver visual brand, be proficient with Adobe Creative Suite and also have an enthusiasm for the arts, community and Papergirl Vancouver. This position will be working hands on with the Papergirl Team Leaders, to create a design for Papergirl Vancouver 2014 that is flexible to use across multiple media and matches the goal and vision of the project. Attention to detail and an ability to work to deadlines is important as our new graphic designer will be creating all our promotional material as well as graphics for the Papergirl Vancouver website.

- Attend our Team Kick off meeting March 13th
- Be able to commit 5-10 volunteer hours from March 13-August 8th 2014
- Attend a monthly team meeting and report back to the team on their progress
- Use our online project management system. We will train you on this at our kick off meeting
- Be able to attend 3 of the 5 core events in July. We will discuss this at our team kick off meeting

- Create a concept and design for Papergirl Vancouver 2014 that is flexible to use across multiple media.
- Ensure that the visual brand of Papergirl Vancouver is consistent and matches the goal and vision of the project.
Deliverables
- Create a dynamic graphic vision of Papergirl Vancouver 2014.
- Create graphic promotional material including (but not limited to) posters, postcards, invites and wraps for rolled art.
- Create graphics to be used on the website
Skills and Experience
- An understanding of the current Papergirl Vancouver visual brand.
- Access to graphic software and proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
- An education in the visual arts or graphic design is an asset.
- A desire to build a design portfolio.
- Self motivated with an ability to work well independently
- Interested in progressive and unique acts of community engaged art
- Work well as part of a team and possess a desire to be a part of a rapidly growing dynamic team of volunteers.
